Mallard Duck - Bic Ballpoint Pen.The mallard or wild duck (Anas platyrhynchos) is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, the Falkland Islands and South Africa.[2] This duck belongs to the subfamily Anatinae of the waterfowl family Anatidae.
The male birds (drakes) have a glossy green head and are grey on wings and belly, while the females have mainly brown-speckled plumage. Mallards live in wetlands, eat water plants and small animals, and are gregarious. This species is the ancestor of most breeds of domestic ducks.

I'm not sure how the ref pic looked, but the only thing that appears off would be the water on the top of the duck's head. It just looks a mite weird, but it's all still breathtaking

In this case the client wanted me to. In many of my other drawings they are entirely new and even though they might look like a copy of a photo, they are not. See these two bellow? They were based on more than 3 references each and they don't exist as a single photo anywhere. there's also the philosophical aspect to it, I could do abstract and more surrealistic stuff too if I wanted to, but my main focus is this right now, because I love it.
