Made with Blender 2.64, rendered in BI with a sun and environment lighting
1600 X 1200
This actually started out life as an extruded, open-ended cylinder with strategically placed loop cuts, added two simple deform mods (twist on both), wireframed faces, a subsurf of 4, scaled up on the Z-axis, and a camera focal length of 10.
