I haven't really done much for critiques here, I'm not really much of an artist at all, and I haven't really been involved with MLP as much as I used to (minus fan art and such), but I can't believe that a beautiful piece like this hasn't even gotten any critiques for it, so I'd figure I'd give one. I already commented on this before, but I will post much better thoughts here.
Vision and technique wise, this is stunning, the coloring and shading are excellently done, and the rain effect is excellent and it feels like it's raining and all wet to the eyes, it definitely conveys a mood of sadness to the picture whilst looking realistic at the same time. Even the details of the little splashes of the drops hitting the pavement are superbly detailed.
But the thing that sells this the most though, is poor Celestia herself. I can actually feel the sadness, pain and regret looking at her face, even I feel like I'm going to cry seeing her expression. If she were a real character and I actually saw something like this happen in real life, I'd give her a hug if I could, I myself have had a similar situation as her, although the outcome has been much, much worse.
But either way, this picture is truly one of the most beautiful I've seen for Celestia (one of my favorite characters) and on Deviantart, I'm impressed by how amazing this is.

I see this art as more of a "protest" against Molestia/Trollestia/Tyrantlestia because as much as I despise Celestia for her idiotic decisions in the Season 2 finale and Season 4 finale, she doesn't deserve bashing from the bronies this way.

It may be true that she made idiotic decisions in the episodes you mentioned, but i personally don't see it as her fault; the writers don't know how to use her character effectively 99% of the time, even though me and my pals see much potential in her. It pisses me off that they mostly focus on the mane 6, Spike and a few other supporting chars; hell, even Luna gets some character development....but not Celestia. Why? Because fuck you that's why. They must think she's already perfect so there's need for some "char-dev", right? But in the end the only role she fills is the mentor figure sort; but oops! They make her seem inefficient, lazy and even incompetent at times. Bullshit. BULLSHIT!!

I'm not sure what you mean, but like i said, me and my pals see much potential in her. The first one is a warrior princess like Xena, but no one's gonna put that in a G-rated tv show, so it's probably best to just make her funnier/sillier, somewhere around Pinkie Pie's level because the Trollestia i know is a nasty costumer.

Well, that's just one guy; And last time i checked, EqD had a cancerous community. But i haven't seen the episode, so i don't know much better.
Besides, the show's been going on for a while now. Everything has to die at some point; else the writers will run out of ideas and won't know what to do with and/or how to handle the characters properly.

I've pretty much been on point with the writers running out of ideas since season 7 started. And season 8 only backed up that point.
If my favorite season 7 episode was A Flurry of Emotions, then Hasbro is doing something wrong.

In the Season 2 finale, Celestia's dumb move was trying to hold a wedding DURING a lock-down. It's like if school was in session during Boston's city lock-down after the marathon bombing.
In the Season 4 finale, she sends Discord to deal with Tirek and because of the maltreatment the Mane 6 sans Fluttershy gave him, it was insanely obvious that Discord would join forces. It's not that friendship meant nothing to Discord, it's that friendship meant nothing to the Mane 6. Every character in "Twilight's Kingdom" was dumb.

Fine! If your gonna keep bashing on Celestia decisions (which are good decisions), Its best If you stay away from any Tia related marital. Your attitude on Celly is the main reason why I choose to defend her. I huge Celestia fan and I proud of it.
