                                                        ~Chapter 1~

Capitan's Log: Tails

    "It was dark. We had just landed on an unknown planet. This planet was covered in trees. They were all tropical even though we aren't near a beach. We had just landed and were in search of a chaos emerald that was picked up by the Blue Typhoon's radars and also because I needed to do some repairs. Knuckles insisted that we come down and search for it despite Chris's suspicions that it may be a trap planned by the Metarex. Sonic went out to take a look around and should be back any second."

"It's all clear gang!" Sonic said with a thumbs up as he came out of a run up in the bridge. They followed him outside and out into the water logged air. Sonic ran off again to start looking for the emerald. The rest of the crew went into the forest to look for the emerald as well. The whole forest should have been full of life, but it was eerily silent.
"We'd better find that emerald quick, I don't like this place. It gives me the creeps." Knuckles said. There was a rustle in the bushes next to them. They stopped.
"BOO!" Sonic yelled as he jumped out of the bushes. Knuckles jumped and shrieked, frightened, then he swung a fist at Sonic, which Sonic easily dodged, laughing. The rest joined in.
"That wasn't funny." Knuckles said grimly.
"You're right, it wasn't funny." Amy said, and then laughed "It was hilarious!!"
"Humph." Knuckles grunted and closed his eyes in embarrassment and walked forward ahead of the rest. There was another rustling in the bushes in front of Knuckles.
"You're not going to scare me again Sonic." Knuckles stated
"Um, Knuckles, sorry to tell ya, but I'm back here" Sonic said from behind him.
"Then who-" Knuckles stopped as he opened his eyes. A Metarex came out of the bushes. Another one followed it until there were four standing in their way.
"Girls, Chris! Back to the ship!" Tails yelled reacting to the situation. Amy stayed behind as Tails, Cosmo, Cream and Chris ran back to the Blue Typhoon. They got too it and it was crawling with Metarex who were banging at the hull of the ship. Tails grimaced, 'Not more repairs….' he thought.
"Uh, Sonic, we've got a problem!" Tails yelled and pointed to the infested ship.
"Got it!" Sonic said, and turned to Knuckles. "Can you handle these?"
"No problem." Knuckles said proudly.
"Amy, go with Tails! You guys can sneak in the back entrance when I've got them distracted." Sonic instructed Amy.
"But I can help!" Amy pleaded. Sonic was getting frustrated. He didn't have time for this.
"I need you to go with Tails. Please! For me?!" Sonic said desperately.
"Fine." She reluctantly agreed, and ran over to Tails to tell him Sonics' plan. Tails agreed and the group went around to the back entrance. Sonic ran over to the ship and started destroying Metarex. They all became distracted as planned and moved over to help one another fight against Sonic. Tails, Amy and the others made it inside the ship safely and Sonic continued fighting.
Tails booted up the computer system and checked the damaged areas of the ship.
"Great." He mumbled "Just great." Alarms were going off everywhere warning of the destruction of the hull. Then, the alarm went off for the engine room.
"Chris! There's a Metarex in the engine room! He's destroying engine one!" Chris grabbed a gun and prepared to go destroy the Metarex.
"Once I destroy it I'm going to go out and help Sonic fight. You don't mind if I use the X-Tornado do you?" Chris told Tails. Tails distractedly replied.
"No, go ahead. Oh, and be careful!" Tails called after him.
"I will Tails!" Chris's voice echoed down the hall. Minutes later the alarm was off for the engine room and everyone in the bridge saw the X-Tornado take to the sky. 'I bet Sonic needs my help…' Amy thought. She got up and ran down the hall to the hanger.
"Amy! Where are you going!?" Tails called after her frantically
"To help Sonic!" She yelled back.
"But Sonic said to stay…. Oh, never mind, she won't listen anyways…" Tails mumbled to himself.

Amy jumped in her plane and took off, not wasting any time. As she took off into the open air, she cursed Tails for not installing windshield wipers. Down below she spotted Sonic being greatly overwhelmed by hundreds of Metarex. Knuckles was no where to be seen so she fired shots down to the ground, destroying several Metarex. Sonic looked up to see her plane along with Chris's and yelled out a thanks, but it was lost in the wind. Then, behind Sonic came out of the woods a giant new Metarex. It charged at Sonic with great speed, surprisingly catching the blue hedgehog off his guard. It picked him up holding Sonic tightly in its fist, then threw him down to the ground with an enormous force. Sonic landed head first into the mud, creating a small crater from his landing.
"SONIC!!" screamed Amy. She quickly landed her plane and pulled out her hammer, running full speed at the Metarex. She smashed smaller ones in her wake, until she reached it. She began pounding on it as hard as she could, and let her hatred come free. It was destroyed in one minute of poundings. Amy immediately ran to Sonic when she was through, who was lying in the mud, unconscious. She kneeled down and put a hand to his chest. His heart was still beating, but his body was unmoving.
"Chris!" she yelled into the transmitter watch on her wrist, "I need your Chaos Emerald!"
"Why?" he responded
"Don't ask questions!" she screamed, "Sonic is hurt and I can't fight off all these Metarex on my own, so I'm going to try and wake Sonic and get him to use chaos control and get us out of here!!"
"OK, OK, one second." Chris said, and ended the transmission.
Amy put her arms underneath Sonics' body and tried to lift him. She had trouble, but she got him off the ground. 'Jeez Sonic, you might wanna lay off the chili dogs…...' Amy though errantly. She managed to half drag-half carry Sonic a few yards before the other Metarex started to come after them. She set him down and then opened her watch again.
"Chris! GIVE ME THE EMERALD NOW!!!" she yelled getting quite frustrated.
"K, here, catch!" he said and Amy looked to the sky to see the emerald shoot out of the front of the X-Tornado. She reached out and caught it when it reached her. Then she knelt at Sonics' side and thrust the emerald into his palm. Metarex were starting to close in around her and Sonic. She yelled Sonics' name repeatedly but it was to no use. He was out cold. Above her Chris's plane, which had been running on power from the emerald, began to descend slowly. The strong winds and rain shook the X-Tornado and Chris was struggling to keep control of it, trying to steer it back towards the Blue Typhoon. Amy was desperately trying to wake Sonic now, but with no luck. The emerald's power was healing him, but not very quickly. More Metarex were around them now, cornering Amy and Sonic between themselves and the dark, twisted forest at their backs. The Metarex advanced slowly, knowing they had finally put an end to Sonic the Hedgehog.
Amy had no choice now but to hold off the Metarex for as long as she could. She prayed that Sonic would come to his senses soon as she started hammering away at the line of Metarex. More kept advancing however. Once she had destroyed about thirty of the group she returned to Sonics' side and began shaking him again, yelling his name, doing whatever she could to wake him. Slowly he came back to consciousness. Opening his eyes he could see Amy overtop of him, shaking him with a pleading look in her eyes. Beyond her face he could see the storm going on overhead, the pitch black clouds and the lightning bolts that ricocheted across the sky. There was a ringing in his ears, but through it he could hear Amy's voice yelling something…but what? All the sudden it all came into focus, Amy, the screeching Metarex, the throbbing pain in his head. He sat up, quickly putting a hand to his head to stop the rush.
"My head…what happened?" Sonic groaned.
"You're OK!!" Amy squealed, and gave him a quick squeeze.
"What happened?" he asked again.
"No time for questions! I need you to use chaos control and get us out of here! Don't try and fight because you're in no shape to." She put a hand on his chest to stop him from getting up. "I need you to hurry! We don't have much time!" As she spoke and Metarex jumped her from behind and she cried out in pain. She turned and smashed it with her hammer, but not before it clawed off her transmitter watch, destroying it. Blood started to trickle from her wrist. Sonic in his dazed state understood the danger of the situation and he yelled
"CHAOS CONTROL!" the Metarex pounced, but fortunately, Sonic and Amy were already gone.
