I made the first sketch long time ago, and when i met the contest, finished.

Love the artwork, but here's some historical background: the giant Goliath had been cutting of the boundries of Greece, every ship that wanted to get had to win from the giant with throwing rocks as far as possible, but no one was able to defeat him, so no ships got in. But then David tried to defeat the giant using a piece of cloth in wich he swinged the stone further then Goliath could.

Another interesting view point of the epic battle between and Goliath: one of the last Nephilim of the biblic story.

Donatello's David is more...."happy" than yours, but I like your version very much. his eyes are cruel. strange thing for such a young boy. good reinterpretation!! ^^

Wasn't Goliath slain by slingshot in the traditional story? Or are you going for something else here...?

As i remember, Goliath was only unconscious after the shot, and David beheaded him with his own sword. Or he was dead, but his head was taken as a trophy. ( Just the same, i think. )
I just wanted remake Donatello's sculpture with the head and sword.

You are right, I wanted to paint other feelings. A fantasy theme for the contest.
