Vonda Velaa Vortini, a local hedge witch from Universe #90038, a world heading towards the end of antiquity, has studied under the tutelage of reknowned sorceress Alexiara of the Bronzed Mountains, who had retired from public life to pursue her studies mostly undisturbed. Vonda, while a rank amateur, was schooled in various disciplines by Alexiara, including in the field that made her famous, Rune magic.

Alexiara not only knew every sign, but had even created runes of her own. She was obsessed with using runes to physically and mentally enhance her abilities, but resolved to test it first. Vonda was happy to volunteer. After entering the rune-filled The Chamber of Evolving, she emerged not only more beautiful and intelligent, but with even greater control over her magical abilities. Alexiara, satisfied with the evolution of her prized student decided that a chance at enhancing her own intellect and physical prowess was too good to past up.
