Hi, I really love this work, it's super rad. I am working on a homebrew supplement for D&D 5th Edition about humans. Would it be possible for me to use this piece or part of it as illustration for the supplement? I noticed Saga was GPL? Does that apply to the art therin? I don't want to be one of the chumps just using art for illustrations without the permission of the artist.

She grew on me, that mischievous trickster! It won't be very soon, but I'll undoubtedly tell her story in the future, she earned it. That's so odd, characters who grow and slip out of your control.

Fantastic artistry! She is a character all her own.
Actually, interesting that you put no cleavage in - I just wrote and posted a short rant about the proliferation of breasts on deviantART, and perhaps that is why I was attracted to this painting: I saw the character as a non-sexualised, living breathing human being, rather than just a character the artist drew "with big tits". Mauve is the sort of character I could invest my full interest in!

Mauve is not above flirting if she thinks it'll help her to achieve her objectives—or to tease some shy character—, yet it's not the single distinctive trait of her personality, she's not the femme fatale. She's unfettered, one with a strong objective in mind which is good in essence (restoring balance to the magic in her world), but made her an antagonist and a possible villain. She'd mow down everyone who stands in her path, and she can't forgive people who turned on mages after magic was compromised. Deep down she's aware that can't doubt herself for a second, she's sure she's condemned to lose her mind to the same magic she's trying to fix, but she believes that if she pours all of her soul in this objective it'll remain strong in her even after she's broken and the person she is is gone, that even if she gets dragged to a hellish dimension (where arcane magic originates) she'll find a way back and continue her work.
So, yeah, being a pretty thing to be gawped at is way too low for her ambitions.

Yes! Truth to be told I have already draw her a considerable number of times, as an excuse to draw non-cannon, fun clothing—because she's just was minor character of mine—, and without settling with an exact face for a while. But she grew on me, and I have plans for her. Not "very soon" plans, but plans nonetheless.

Thank you! And to add insult to the injury: That illustration certainly got around! It's become one of my most popular works.
It makes me question some "truths set on stone" about female characters being portrayed as they are on games and stuff because it's what the male audience wants. No one seemed to care at all she's fully dressed. It seems it's more like yeah, the male audience is attracted by sexy characters, but it won't make them reject non-sexualised ones. It was never mutually exclusive. I hope producers get it too.

I'm not sure if there is a name for it. Brute force rendering? Hahaha. I start with bigger brush size, decreasing it as I work. It's a simple round, hard edge brush and I do various short brushstrokes, trying to convey some volume and keep the colors interesting. In fact abuse the color picker there, blending through color relationships instead of softer blending work and gradients. I've also used a lines brush from this sweet brush pack , mostly on the background and her tunic/skirt.
