Description titled by *DeviantPunisher

Went to downtown today at lunch time to catch the hungry mob before they enter their white boxes. Caught this guy as I crossed the intersection of Swan and Broadway street. He's walking from one day to the next as if there's no differences to distinguish the past and the future. It all seemed to be determined that he would leave one void and would enter another void. What is there for him to hold...what's there for him to give...nothing i guess...nothing except the day he forgot to walk.

Strong perspectives and a juxtaposition as we want to look in the direction he is implying by the walk, but also the view of the side building pulls us back that way too- very great decisive moment for you to capture.

great photo and great title

i love the contrast between the office walls and the dak windows.. for me it adds to the darkness of the subject - you couldn;t have got a model to pose this shot as well as he has - he really does look well and truely stuck in the rat race, as you say moving from one void to another. I think the thing is although we all have to have our routines, he looks fed up with his routine.

I would quite happily put this up in my study - a great piece of art!!

Excellent. I like the over-exposure here, I don't think it would have worked any other way.

I like it! I don't know if this was just one random dude you found at one random spot. The only thing that bothers me is this guy. Everything else is so interesting except for this dude(to me). It looks kinda weird how the sun hits his right leg, looks like hes wearing capri's or something. If I were you I would go back to this spot and wait for more people to walk by, so you can get better facial expressions and poses. Might find some really crazy looking people

hehe the dude is the reason why i shot the shot saw him as i cross the intersection...without him the shot wouldn't have that much elements...and i think he was wearing jean and i think the shade from his coat is kind of cover his leg ... more people would be for another shot for another concept i'll definitely go back to shoot more street shots in downtown and hopefully there will be more people walking around hehe...our downtown is like a dead town ...if you miss lunch hr...there's no one on the street
thanks for your suggestion/comment

I wasn't trying to offend your work. I was just pointing out really minor things. I know you didn't specify advanced critiques on this pic, but its eye-catching.. good luck if you go back out to shoot.

What is life but daily steps. We walk through life determined and concentrating on the direction we are going. Leaving behind rooms and windows and doorways of our tasks, each fading as time goes on and yet exists and echos in the lifes of others forever....

BTW nice photo...

vietkatthroughlense In reply to heartyfisher [2006-12-21 20:19:00 +0000 UTC]

life is steps...not necessary daily daily is something that you do on a routine...it would be abit boring and lifeless dont you think to follow routine and what already set for us? ...i think that's a sad part of growing up, cause it seems routine is what we are ended up doing...then at the end of our lives...we wondered what could happen if we were to break the routine...

heartyfisher In reply to vietkatthroughlense [2007-01-13 13:24:45 +0000 UTC]

I was one who hated routine.. but recently I find that routine is much more important than we "artists" tend to think.. after all we breathe routinely, we eat routinely, we even need to love routinely. Daily routine is good for us.. It recharges us if it is used correctly. It gives us energy and inspiration and ability to do great things!

well yes we have routines and it's important for us to perform such daily tasks...but one got to wonder ... what else is there...beside what's seem important? ... like a random thought...a random act that would spark something...those moments make loosing a life more enjoying...

I dig it. I really like the high contrast, and I love that you retained a lot of detail in it instead of letting the intense light white everything out. Great composition, too. It seems more like a really nice chance photograph, like you were at the right place and time to capture it. Like the decisive moment in reportage photography. Solid.
