wilhelm sorata was an ordinary 13 year old boy. he is half german and half japanese (father got a job as a guide on the island)
Rire is a symbiote alien and an incarnation of Kuroda Jin'no meaning he had potential for becoming a phrophet.
Sorata finds rirei in the forest after the space craft that was being used to trans port his species( for biological weapon) crashed into the forests of Izu Island.

sorata and rirei bonded. Rirei being highly inteligent didnt want to infect Sorata. as he fears for his safety. but sorata gets greviously hurt and almost dies, he is saved by rirei when he decides to infect him to save him.

now they exist as a 2 organism symbiote-host relationship.
