Very nice work, went immediately into my faves. Really love the knotwork animorphic. I am just beginning to work on a full set of leather armor myself and this is very similar to what I see in my head for my own project. Have you played around with wet-molding leather yet? Love the rest of your work too...I'm following you!

this is fantastic, the tooling fantastic, the lacing is perfect adds a nice little touch the color contrast on the leather and whole piece is great, the skulls add a little bit of an embellishment not too much though. i only hope one day i can have this much skill. thank you for sharing your work

There is a leather forum online that if you have not been there you need to visit. The forum has +10000 members from all over the world, all from total beginners to authors of leather books. Very useful and super friendly: www.leatherworker.net
Tools: Good working bevellers in all shapes & sizes, with these you can make most any pattern. A good knife for cutting out parts, an edge trimmer, this should be a great start.
