Description This was it.

Dublin braced themselves as finally, Lincoln dispersed from their side with confidence in taking sight of their final task of youth. They knew just as well as their Jarl of what was to happen, what was to take place in the moment they found themselves standing alone.

Raefnwood's outer limits were just as good as any a hunting opportunity for the young wolf. Now, the time had come. Dublin drew in a deep breath, deep as they could manage and tried to shake the trembling feeling that knawed in their chest and sent uncomfortable tingles down their limbs. They took a final glance back to their Jarl- and then, a swift nod of their head without word. It was time to move.

Dublin tried to convince themselves to steady their mind. After all, this hunt would be no different than so many before. All the hunts she'd partaken with Valera. With Kaiba and Cacao. With so many other of her Skuld. A deer would hardly make the difference, right?

But time had been unusual and cruel to the young wolf as it left little chance for catching fresh prey. With the advances of those strange and horrendous white wolves, lingering prey animals were growing small and shorter in number. Dublin even wondered, misery lumping up in their throat, if this would even be worth the effort.

What if it was all for vain? What if it was a sign, that they weren't worthy? Not deserving of Fellfangir title?

Now was no time to sulk- Dublin shook their head angrily, dumping out all their negative thoughts and doubts. They'd done so for so long now. It was time to give back, for everything everyone had shown for them.

And so, Dublin reached towards the earth and began to search for scents- trails of anything fresh. Their eyes widened. Someone had been listening to their prayer.

Deer, the scent of it, filled the air.

They wasted no time to move in. Dublin remembered all of their lessons- all of the time and hours and work poured in, just for this. Slinking low to the ground without a second thought, the muddied pelted wolf slunk through the grass and hoped to blend in with their surroundings.

Before them, hardly yards away, a buck.

He seemed peaceful, unbothered even. The young male contently grazed away at the thick grass from below, and Dublin held their breath intently. With this one being young, in his prime, there was of course the chance of getting injured... A high chance at that.

But they'd recalled everything they'd been through, fought for, fought with. They were not quitter.

Dublin would take that chance.

Like an adder on strike, fangs barred and fur tussled about, they sprung. In the heat of the moment, the blur of only a few seconds... time began to slow so unnaturally. The buck, alarmed from such sudden movement, rose his head and tail. Dublin's breaths came loud and ragged... but the thrill of the hunt coursed through their blood, hot and wild. Paws thundered across such a short amount of land, and then... They sprang.

Dublin had never before leapt through the air as they had now, not like this- but everything in this exact moment felt... Felt perfect.

A tiny trace of wind curved around their figure and rushed through their fur, and stormy eyes had never seemed so bright. But at last time gave into those precious few moments, and everything began to collide and tumble and crash, and quickly. It was all a blur.
They latched onto the young buck's throat. Hooves naturally thrashed and Dublin hung on for their life, but they would not dare let go.

Not like they'd done in the past... Dublin was over it. Over all of the bad to take place, over all of their bad luck they'd tried time and time again to wash out. They were feeling different... Feeling fresh. Times were changing and they were growing. Maybe Dublin would let go, but this time... it was so much different. It was time to give the past up, and latch onto new opportunity and adventure.

Dublin would not let their Jarl, nor their Skuld down. That was no remark, no quirk of theirs to exclaim in only the manner a small pup would... but a full fledged promise.

Dublin was no pup anymore. They were fully grown.

The buck came to a still much sooner than they'd anticipated, as Dublin finally drew their fangs from his throat. Weary from being nearly flung about and all the while dodging those sharpened hooves, they dropped their heavy catch and dropped to their own haunches.

Exhausted would be one way to sum up how they would be feeling right now... But it was so much more to Dublin than that.
They were triumphant. They were victorious. They were proud.

Beginning the drag back towards the mouth of Raefnwood, Dublin began to scan their eyes for Lincoln...

He couldn't have been far.

"I did it!"
They called out to him.

They did it.
