Description Poison Tree... Visual poem

A collaboration with my great friend and wonderful artist Brendan ~ ~

Poem:

I caught you near my poison tree
in search of bitter fruit
and watched you shake its heavy limbs,
well watered from the roots

Its leaves were wraiths of withered hate;
its branches tipped in rue
Its trunk knew naught of happiness,
its blosssoms all untrue.

And yet you climbed its slippery bark,
worn thin and grey with pain;

A great visual work. Despite the picture being quite crowded, the skulls and the woman really stand out enough. Wonderful elements, and concept.
And the poem has such a perfect flow and rhyme. And great descriptions. Great wok both of you ^ ^

I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe;
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I water'd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears;
And I sunned it with my smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright;
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine,

And into my garden stole
When the night had veil'd the pole:
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretch'd beneath the tree
