Tija is a reliable and hard-working person. Raised in a village where contributing to the community was held above all else, she did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done. It does come with its downsides, because of her quick and to the point upbringing Tija becomes very impatient when things aren't done fast enough and she has no time to spare for slackers. This also made her very blunt. Since she was always short on words due to her throat injury she always made sure to not beat around the bush when it came to speaking. This didn't change after she became a slave nor did it change once she died.

One thing her time as a slave did teach her though is to be courteous. Courteousy and manner were the only thing between being rewarded and getting a beating. She learned very quickily that being polite would get her places that being mouthy wouldn't. She tries to be as polite as she can with strangers, taking time to think things out before she says them despite her blunt nature.

Because of her throat injury she's also very quiet, making her come off as unfriendly, when in truth is very unfriendly. She's very cynical, her time as a slave making her bsuspicious of most people and their intentions. Because she doesn't have many friends she spends most of her time with books, reading up on as many topics as possible.

When Tija wasn't waiting on Ms.Lillian, she spent most of her time in the kitchen cooking with the other slaves.

Bio:
Ripped from her home and brought to the Americas through the Atlantic Slave Trade, Tija learned at a young age that she had to be adaptable just to survive from then on. From the moment she arrived, she was considered damaged goods due to a throat injury that made her incapable of talking above a hoarse whisper. She whistled when she exhaled and had a hard time breathing making her unsuitable for field work. Luckily (or maybe unluckily), she was bought by a family looking for a playmate for their youngest daughter. Tija didn't adjust well to the slave lifestyle. She was mouthy and disobidient, but after a few beatings she learned it was better to keep her mild comments to herself. The work was difficult but the family treated her well enough for a slave, only because their daughter, Lillian, considered her more of a friend than a servant. They were close enough that Lillian made Tija do every with her and for her in most cases, including her studies. Lillian taught Tija everything she knew to get out of her studies and Tija took to it well. After a small taste of this new knowledge Tija began to thirst to know more. She read books in secret, sneaking into the study after hours and reading out in the forest when she wasn't working. But of course that wasn't allowed and of course someone discovered her. She was punished harshly. A group of men found her out in the forest bent over a book and began to question her and her mouthy nature got her into more trouble and after sassing the men a bit too much they snapped. "How dare this slave talk to us this way" they yelled, "We oughta teach her some respect". They hit her and kicked her, and unable to raise her voice to yell for help she curled into a ball. They didn't stop until the final kick to the head laid her out limp, the light gone from her eyes.
The next thing she knew she was laying in a field of flowers, death stood above her offering a job. She took it because what else could she do, working was all she knew. When she died she expected to be free and yet she was trapped in servitude once again. To be forced to work through her short life for the benefit of others and then again in her death. When the realization hit her she was furious, in a fit of rage she killed her teammates and escaped, thinking that it was better for them to be dead and free than work forever like the slave she was. But that wasn't the end of it. Tija continued to hunt down apprentices, an occasional kill here and there. She felt slight remorse at having a part in their deaths but she knew it was better for them to be free in death.
