“God can this day get more interesting please?” You begged to no one in particular, laying down on the couch and watching some Troll tv. It was nighttime, and your matesprit was supposed to be on their way over to have a cuddle fest with you.

A knock came at the door, which caused you to groan and pull yourself off the couch and to a standing position. You dragged your limbs over to the door and answered it, seeing John and Dave with anxious looks on their faces.

“(y/n)! We have a bit of a problem,” John told you. Dave just looked towards the ground, or at least you think he did. Who knows with those shades?

“What’s up?” You asked, watching them carefully. It wasn’t that you didn’t trust them, just that you were a bit wary around humans.

“We found someone...important to you...on the way here.” John told you, motioning to Dave. You raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah, Dave is important to me, but why would you need to show me him?” You asked. John smiled and giggled and Dave’s face burnt red slightly, him looking up at you.

“Not me you sack of shit! This thing we found! Looks like your mate.” Dave said and put his hand into his jacket, where you noticed a wiggling bundle in it.

He pulled the bundle out and it was a grub. You was surprised, who would leave a grub on the side of the road? Where was its lusus? The strangest thing is, that it had the same blood color as your matesprit!

Dave handed it to you, and John fiddled with his fingers. You held the grub in your arms, rocking from side to side with it, as it was balanced between sleep and awakeness.

“I think that’s your...uh...matesprit?” John told you. You looked down at the grub with confused eyes. Now that you think about it, it DOES look a great deal like your matesprit. But how did this happen?

“Thanks guys, I’ll take this from here. Did you want to come in a little bit?” You asked, watching as the grub sleepily played with your hair. They shook their heads.

“No, we were just passing by. Good thing we did!” John laughed. You nodded and waved as they turned to leave.

“See you guys!” You called, and they yelled bye, leaving. You sighed and closed the door, walking back into the living room and sitting on the couch with the grub. Now that you think about it, it did have one thing that stood out on it, which was like the one your matesprit had. And that was...
