Description Where does the best kind of inspiration come from?

They say that inspiration can come from anywhere. I always believed this, but I also believed that the best ideas could come from one’s mind when he or she used their imaginations to manipulate their surroundings to make interesting and fantastic worlds.
The best inspiration can indeed come from anywhere, but a key factor of inspiration is having a great imagination. And that, as I’ve figured out, can often come from the people who have the greatest need for imagination.
My parents were raised in the 60’s-70’s, and were brought up in a way similar to the family of “Leave it to Beaver”. Naturally, my sister and I rebelled and became extremely creative and adventurous. I suppose the first major factor for our love of fantasy was our house. We grew up in a house that is currently over 200 years old. My sister and I always knew that it was haunted and would always make up stories about the people that used to live in our house and how they died, while our parents spent their time reading art books and knitting.
The majority of our time was spent drawing bizarre characters, seeing things in our house move on their own, hiking through our forest where we saw ghosts that would vanish when they realized that they were being watched, and made up fantastic animals, characters and stories.
I later on got several of my friends to help create a fantasy world in our free time. As time went on, I decided that I would one day want to share these ideas with the world. People would look at this like some little kid’s fantasy that he would grow out of, but this was, in fact, probably the reason that I got into making movies and art for living. When I was in fourth grade, my sister moved to Italy to go to college. Upon getting married, she lost her taste for our polytheistic universe and became unbearably catholic. In sixth grade most of my friends forgot about everything we had created and our group separated.
Today, I’m attending summer courses on media with around 50 other people with similar interests as my own. After watching the students here come up with fantastic ideas out of almost nothing, I’ve come to the conclusion that the best inspiration is, in fact, very easy to come by, but that only few people can see it. The people who can turn one tiny thing into something absolutely captivating and beautiful. The madmen and the insane, even. Those with the utmost imaginations need the least inspiration. But if I hadn’t been born into a small town with such uninteresting and tedious company, I don’t think I’d even be here now.
