Hey ya! Dread Knight allowed me to use this concept for a 3D character.
Have a look at the results if you're interested:

Well it gave me some headaches around the head but I managed to get it done. Despite that, I loved the shape of the creature and the fact that it has no eyes, those was the main reasons why I had chosen go for the 3D model. Thanx!

It's not actually a concept with an interesting story. It is a twisted (and very well done!) form of a real dog who is, according to the history of the peoples of Mexico and South America, who is said to accompany the dead through the underworld. The xoloitzcuintli is a hairless dog native to Central and South America that has been around for over 3000 years. When a person died a xolo was sacrificed and buried with them because, in order to cross the underworld, they needed the xolo guide.
There is a river (or rivers, I can't remember) that must be crossed and it is said to remove the sin from one's body. Butterfly xolos (the ones with the round white spots on their legs and bellies) are said to be the xolos who chose to come back to earth and those spots are from where the sin was washed from their bodies from the river.
With all that said, it is easy to see where the inspiration for this piece came from. It is weird and creepy and looks nothing like the beautiful xoloitzcuintli but it definitely has something xolo-ish about it and it is a great piece of art!

ha ha, actually i feel like there's still a lot to learn for me, I'm surprised when people want to reach such skills as mine but thank you
Well, I finished art academy, but when it comes to such conceptual art, I learned everything on my own. Used a lot of references (and still am in most cases). I use references for some parts of my drawings, like muscle references, or for some objects that I don't know how to draw.
I guess I learned how to shade way before I started doing concept art. Back then I drew portraits of people and animals, using only pencils, so that helped me a lot to get the idea how shading works. And about coloring, I'm still learning that. Reference photos help here a lot as well I always say to myself that I should check some tutorials or just read some books about coloring, to get a better idea, but I guess I'm a little bit stubborn when it comes to learning from other sources, so I try to understand everything on my own. Which is a bad example actually, so I suggest that you should check some tutorials or read some art books, or even take art classes

the concept is really interesting and the realisation is beautiful with a nice choice of colors perfectly fitting the creature. I really like the anatomy and the fact it's supposed to be a "dog", it's very original.
