Hanako/Jin-Ho (Kor. Precious Lake) is an avatar who asked the Mother of Faces for a new appearance.

When Hanako was 7 years old, her family left their native land. The fact is that during this period there was famine in the girl’s native lands, and there was a severe lack of resources. Traveling around the world in search of a favorable place to live and earn money, they had to face refusals. Wandering through the Fire Nation, a family of water mages found shelter and work in the small town of Hira'a - located on the outskirts of the Country of Fire near the Valley of Oblivion.
Due to her parents' busy lives, Hanako did not receive enough education and was a little robber who harmed local residents in order to attract the attention of her mother and father. But this only caused the opposite reaction. As expected, the parents of the young pest were warned that they could face problems and eviction from the country. The city took up arms against Hanako, and they wanted to send her to prison and started a hunt for her. The fourteen-year-old girl just wanted the love and attention of her parents, but could not convey it to them in any other way. She was overcome by despair from the severity of the entire situation and the burden of guilt. No longer wanting to be a burden and a problem for her parents, Hanako fled into the forest and, after spending several days there, reached the Valley of Oblivion, where she found a lake. When the girl approached and began to drink, the water glowed and a huge spirit appeared, which introduced itself as the Mother of Faces. Hanako was scared at first, and then thought that it was better to die at the hands of the spirit than to return to the village. But the Mother of Faces only asked why she came to her house. Hanako told the spirit her story.
The Mother of Faces leaned towards her and said, 'I feel the spirit of the Avatar.' Hanako did not react happily: who needs an avatar with such a bad reputation?
Mother of Faces said that she could give her a new face, to which Hanako immediately agreed. But she didn’t want to return to the village, because everything would remind her of the past. She asked if she could stay with the Mother of Faces, to which she initially answered in the negative, but then agreed to help her reveal the spirit of the Avatar on the condition that she would live according to the philosophy of spirits.
As soon as Hanako had a new face, the mother of faces gave her a new name - Jin-Ho.
Unity with nature played a big role in the development of spirituality and connection with the world of spirits. Thanks to numerous meditations and bird watching, Jin-Ho conquered the air.
At the age of 19, knowing only the magic of water and air, the avatar set off to travel the world to study the other two elements. During her travels, Jin-Ho met a group of people from the Southern Water Tribe, who also traveled the world spreading their philosophy, similar to what Jin-Ho learned from the Mother of Faces. As a result, fate led them to a swamp in the Earth Kingdom, where they stopped and organized a small settlement.
