Description With a voice like strings on an electric guitar
Played by fingers damp from iced summer tea,
And a personality as unexpectedly sweet,
He speaks to me from miles away
Of months to come.

All the while, I dream
Of the glowing skin on his bare temples,
Where I brush away the dark waves of his hair
And touch with my lips
The hull of his mountainous psyche,
Filled with hopes and dreams and ambitions
And stories too many to tell.

When I kiss him, it is an act of celebration.
When I kiss his temples, I celebrate the birth of his passion.
When I kiss his lips, I celebrate the union of our outward thoughts.
When I kiss his eyelids, I celebrate his insight, his foresight, his ultimate vision;
I celebrate the window through which his spirit sees mine
And accepts all of it.

He catches hold of me when I dream and keeps me from blowing away in the wind.
His voice catches hold of me and I remember
He is a person; a man, a friend, a lover.
He is real, and so am I.
Because of that,
I know he's not just a dream.
Because of that,
I do not fear our goodbyes
Or our parting kisses;
They will come again
Each one sweeter than the last.
