Oh that's awesome! Do you usually work around a certain f/stop? Or do you vary it widely depending on the shot you're looking for? I ask because I tend to like things with a shallow DoF, and I'm curious what your own, personal taste is.

I'm about to get a Sony A55 DSLR and I'm trying to figure out which type of lens I should get. I'm stuck between 1.4 and 1.8 as the maximum aperture for a particular focal length, and there's a considerable price difference haha.

Not much will be in focus at 1.4...I'd say go for the 1.8 and use the money you save on something else!

Definitely. That's kind of what I've been hearing. I've heard that the 1.4 is a great thing to have, but you seldom use it just due to how insane it really is.

That said I'd really like to get my hands on one to try it out...I've been kind of liking the blurry out of focus effect. Only sometimes, but it could be kind of neat!

Indeed! I got to check it out today, and I really like the camera! My only issue is that the lens has a little bit too much chromatic abberation for me. It's not a whole lot, but it's enough to bug me lol.
