I refuse to desensitize myself from the pain, even if it kills me
I refuse to forget my memories because they make me who I am

When I become numb, I will cease to feel, cease to exist

I cannot reject how I am, to suppress my feelings for the sake of others
I cannot and will not become one of THEM

But I will not lose myself in the pain and I will hold on
But I will not inflict pain on those around me

I will take the pain and learn my lessons
I will treasure every moment and not take a single one for granted

Even if doing so will make me a stronger person
Even if doing so would profit me greatly

Because when I do, I will forget what it’s like to feel
Because when I do, I will slip into nothingness

Because I’m not an artificial person with artificial feelings
Because I am who I am and will refuse to be anyone else

I refuse to be numb
I am a feeling, passionate, sympathetic PERSON
I am so much more than just an ordinary human being

I refuse to be numb
The ability to feel and let go is what makes me special
And while sometimes my past haunts me, it does not consume me

I refuse to conform
I refuse to rebel, because rebellion is conformity
