This isn’t a quote from anything; it’s simply an observation that I’ve made about life, based off both mine and others. x3

Obviously, there is a lot of grey area here; this isn’t to say that we shouldn’t question our parents’ beliefs, as it is an important step towards gaining our independence. There are, of course, lots of things that our parents tell us that we do end up disagreeing with even as adults. I just find it amusing how so much of the time, we end up agreeing with our parents after rebelling against the things they taught us as kids. xD

An example from my own life (and many others, as I’ve noticed) would be the concept of ethics. We’re always taught “you should be nice to others and try not to hurt them, etc etc”, but then I thought, “why? Who determines what is ethical? I don’t have to follow your ethics!” Well, as I quickly learned, most people won’t respect you if you can’t respect their feelings towards certain things, and it’s just not worth making people hate you over little stuff. xD If you want to have any real voice in this world, then you should try to be nice to as many people as possible (even if you disagree with them), because nobody listens to a meanie. Plus, it's harder for meanies to get jobs and stuff like that.

But it’s okay; that is how we learn, after all.
