Description
I started this with the inspiration of this big grey flower hair clip. It was kind of like a poinsettia and it had a little bit of glitter on it. I had this feeling of a bunch of elegant, translucent petals at the top of a long flowing vertical stream of hair. I wanted to tie in vertical lines and the points of the petals and the points of the sparkles/stars. I also wanted to keep the colors cool and I wanted to keep a sense of flow with structure.
The main theme behind this is that of bringing a vision or desire to life with hard work and deep focus. Overall I wanted to keep a dream-like, fantasy quality to it while using the horse as a symbol of both labor and beauty. I also wanted to make this juxtaposition present in her clothing by making her outfit seem like something out of a fairy-tale with subtle hints of bondage. In order to achieve your aesthetic goals you often have to be a slave to it. True beauty is painful and difficult to achieve. Suffering is the bridge between fantasy and reality.
