After the sudden encounter with the mechanically feathered menace behind Vanilla and Cream's absence, Sonic diverts their attention to him for the chance to give Sally time to escape. Sonic makes a few preemptive attacks upon the stork bots while Sally heads for an exit. The blue hedgehog manages to stand his ground despite the stork bots' resilience to his attacks. Unfortunately, Sally's getaway attempt was short lived when a giant cloth appeared and trapped her. A fourth stork bot caught her by surprise, leaving Sonic on his own to fend off the metal birds.
