This is very interesting and a very beautiful piece of work, the detail of the land is sharp as the clouds and the color of the sea's. I looked at this a couple of times and I am noticing something different each time. I like art work like this. Another beautiful piece of art Virna.

Is he a comet?
What a cool painting I love the colors, and how it tells a story, but also makes you wonder about the details of that story. The wash of the "comet tail" (sorry if it's not a comet; I just don't know how else to refer to it ) looks really good, and the texture on the continents and the moon looks really awesome.

Did you get your computer back?

virnagray In reply to barananduen [2014-01-29 17:25:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes

Thank you very much,

This was difficult because it is a 6*6 inches... gallery rapped canvas,

The people in the gallery want different sizes on the canvas, preferably small

I don't like doing this really little one's ,

But I am supposed to have the space with them this spring,

So I am painting tiny one's...!!!

And no, I will get it back Friday

This is through my phone

How big are your paintings usually?
That's so cool that you'll have gallery space! It must feel really awesome having your paintings exhibited like that How many will you have up?

virnagray In reply to barananduen [2014-01-30 05:10:59 +0000 UTC]

16*20, 18*24 is the average

Bigger if it is a commission and that is what they want

But ever since the gallery thing I have done 12*12 and I actually like those

My least favorite are the really long and skinny ones

Yes I am very excited!!!

It is a really cool gallery on a very nice mall, in Newport  KY.

But they have tons of rules on framing, sizes, and there is a monthly fee,

But they do all the selling and shipping so it is cool,

And I have to have provably 40  paintings to fill the wall,

Lots of work.

But yeah it's pretty exciting♡♥♡

barananduen In reply to virnagray [2014-01-31 00:26:54 +0000 UTC]

Ah, cool
I wish I had the courage to paint bigger XD I've never (event banners excluded, but that was a one-off) painted anything bigger than around A4/slightly bigger than letter size
Yeah, I imagine the long and skinny ones must be hard to compose nicely. I once saw one around here that was like a storyboard of the Mayan creation myth and that worked well in that format (even though it was drawn on paper, not canvas); but other than stuff like that and things like panoramic landscapes, I don't know what...it must be a tricky size to work with! Does the gallery want some of those too? I wonder if their framing and size restrictions are because of the shipping... that's the only reason that I can make sense of in my head

virnagray In reply to barananduen [2014-01-31 19:54:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah they are pretty tricky to do...

The gallery wants small sizes because,  being in the mall

They get tons of people looking around, that not necessarily went there to buy art

so the figure, that if they have smaller and more affordable paintings,

They have more chances of spontaneous sales♡♥♡,

And that if people really like your art work,  They will come back for bigger pieces

Ohhh that makes sense! I hadn't through of that, but it totally makes sense!
I hope you make a lot of sales!!
