Description "She Breathes the Soul of the Ocean"
A work in progress I'm hoping to finish soon. I've decided I really don't like using masking fluid at all for highlights, even though I hoped it would help create a more "wet" look in this one. Fortunately, since I have so much more texture to add to the waves/hair, I should be able to cover it up, and then create more natural looking spray using watered-down acrylics and a straw. This was a bit of an experiment using masking fluid to play with the transparency potentials of background patterns, something I'd like to continue to explore.

I really like where you're going with this one.... have you worked on it any more since you posted? I'm curious as to the watered-down acrylics and straw technique you mention...

Thanks! Unfortunately, no... I tried pulling it out once after the baby was born and saw so many mistakes, I got a bit discouraged. I want to finish it at some point, but I just started working traditional employment again, so I don't when that's going to happen. Thanks for looking, though!

The details of the woman's face are impressive.

thanks! hopefully they will still be when I build more contrast... I get torn between wanting to maintain that light, "watery" look, and wanting something more distinct and realistic. but having an amazing model sure helps!
