Yay Tarja! I cried when she got kicked out of Nightwish... I'm so glad she still took the effort to go solo.
Great stamp, very pretty... I might end up using it ^-^

I loved Tarja's second album over her first album.
Oh and you haven't heard anything yet with Nightwish. Their new album, Imaginaerum will rock your socks off.

Whoa... way to reply to a post that is over a year old XD
After listening to Tarja's second album more, I came to love it completely.
And I have listened to Imaginaerum, I just don't care for Annette's voice, I still like the band's music.

Oh. I understand that. My first song I heard was Nemo and I was just utterly in love with Tarja. Anette took some getting use to, cause I was so sad that Tarja was gone. But... I just wanted to listen to Bye Bye Beautiful one day and gaaah! I just love Anette.
I think Anette is doing a great job for the symphonic metal thing. I listen to a lot of symphonic metal, and not all of them sing in a very opera style like Tarja does. Floor Jensen can sing in a "rock style" like what Anette does. Sharon de Adel sang very opera for WT's first three albums, with The Heart of Everything she began to sing differently. In their latest album, Sharon abandons the opera style and sings in a "rock style". The lead singer for the band Midnattsol, doesn't do the high octaves like her sister Liv does.

It's not that I don't like symphonic metal sung lower sometimes (because actually I listen to a handful of symphonic metal bands with male vocalists) I just don't think where she takes her voice it entirely suits her ability at times. To be honest, a lot of bands I listen to I can say I like the "music" more than the "vocals" because I am very judgemental with vocals XD; I just learn to ignore the 'singing' and pay attention to the 'lyrics' and 'music' because that means more to me than anything XD
See the thing with Within Temptation is while some consider them symphonic metal (which they can be) generally they're labled an alternative rock band (like if you walk in to a music store you'll find them in the pop/rock section, not the metal section) That is why WT is commonly associated with Evanescence too; because technically it was labled a rock band, not metal. And I actually loved when Sharon del Adel sung The Heart of Everything and Caged in a lower octave. It really is on how well the vocalist can execute the change between octaves for me.
Haha it's funny... how the mind perseves sound, music, and singing. How someone can hate Tarja and love Annette and another personon can love Tarja and hate Annette and their idea of "good and bad" sound can very dramatically. It's fascinating.

I love Tarja AND Anette.
You can't just "ignore" the vocalist. They create a major part of the music.
WT is metal. Evanescence is metal.
The genre people are dumbfucks in my opinion.

While vocalists are a major part, they don't have to be the root of it. I was originally drawn in to Nightwish because of the lyrics and depth to their music (specifically their instrumentals) It just depends on what you look for in music.
WT can be classified metal and rock, but music stores (and a lot of fans) label it rock. Evanescence I have never seen labeled metal, ever, it has barely any metal riffs and lacks the metal feel. It definitely has the rock approach and rock riffs, especially in their newer albums.

Mmmm... it's metal. I've always labeled it metal. It has the guitar distortion that is signature in metal so does WT. They are metal.
Okay, then, Nightwish has only changed vocalists. The depth of their music and lyrics haven't changed, why complain about vocalists?

You can label it metal if you want, but the official genre is rock and if you understand music (specifically guitar) you can see the difference.
I wasn't complaining, I stated an opinion saying "I don't care for Annette that much." It was as simple at that. I wasn't saying "Eww I hate Annette and Nightwish sucks with her and I hate them now" etc. No it was nothing like that. When talking about Nightwish I always say they're my favourite band and that they're great, even though Annette is with them now. There is always something in some band that not everyone is going to like, it's a matter of opinion. And if you can't handle someone else's opinion, don't comment or create conversation about it. People do have preferences, mine is Tarja, but I STILL listen to Nightwish even though she is gone. And if you go back and re-read the comments I DID say "Annette has talent" I'm not criticizing her vocals saying she sucks, I simply stated my opinion that I sometimes don't think she is in her range. I didn't say it meanly and was trying to have a nice back-and-forth conversation with you by sharing opinions and hearing yours, but obviously you're not mature enough to handle that. Good evening, I am done talking with you.
