Description
Some thumbs for the book cover commission I am currently working on. The one that got to the next stage is not included of course
I will update the final illustration when the book is published.

When I look at these not as independent thumbnails but as a succession of pictures they sort of become a story in themselves... a story telling of the crow's or raven's journey along the coast, through changing, sometimes rough weather until it finally reaches the distant city of the golden spires. One wonders, though, about the raven's true nature. Must be a magical being - possibly a messenger of some god, who knows.

My personal favourite is #1. I think the mood is just a perfect balance between the stormy clouds to the left and the sun breaking through on the right. Plus, it's brilliant how you cannot exactly tell where the man-made towers end and the natural rocks begin. The raven is in the perfect place to catch one's eye, too.
Awesome. This would make one gorgeous full-fledged painting in its own right!

I think my personal favourite is #1 as well. In fact I liked it so much I started turning it into a full scale piece a week or so ago

Thank you very much. I am putting in the final details at the moment. The book will be published end of April, so I think it is safe to say I will upload it around that time. I was actually thinking of over painting the unused thumbs, develop the concepts further as a personal pieces.
