Description
A headcanon for Celestia and Luna's father:

- Matutinus means "morning" in Latin

- "Mattie's" origins are a mystery to everyone, even himself. All he remembers is that he was an Earth pony orphan who attempted to unite the three pony kingdoms by becoming an alicorn and converting multiple ponies from each kingdom into alicorns. This went badly, as the kingdoms saw this as a threat to their power and the status quo, and forced him to disband his following. The remaining alicorns went into hiding, and his failed, short-lived attempts faded away into myth as he went into hiding.

- One of the converted alicorns was a former pegasus named Asteria. Together they had two daughters, Celestia and Luna. Unfortunately, the parents went out one day... and were not seen again, leaving behind a toddler Celestia and infant Luna. No one knows what happened to them, and they disappeared so early in their childrens' lives that neither sister really missed them that much.
