Description
When in the show Princess Celestia is a wonderful character, a kind teacher who is more guiding than directly intervening. Unfortunately she's had just about bumpkis for lines since Twilicorn. Yes, I'm a bit salty. I can't fault the show excessively because of the nature of Twilight taking on a teaching role making it difficult for Celestia to have a place, but there's always the opportunity for a Celestia slice of life episode. Glad to know I'm not the only one who wants to see what a day in her life is like. For years both the show and the fandom focused on her sister, let Sunbutt have her time in the spotlight.
On to the piece itself, it's a very nice piece of work. I love the lighting, really gives this picture a particular charm, and a mood I can't quite point out

And yes, I agree with the fandom with regards to needing a Celestia episode... Let's hope those leaked season 7 episode titles on Equestria Daily are accurate and we really do get such an episode! (I'm particularly guessing the episode 'Celestial Advice' is it)

Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed with how she's gradually faded into obscurity too.
No longer being Twilight's teacher was kind of a given of course, but that still shouldn't have stopped her from remaining Twilight's mentor. She does have a thousand plus years of experience after all.
Even what other roles she had left have kind of been supplanted by other things since then as well, the map being the most notable, and unlike Luna she doesn't really have a special feature of her own that can at least give her a reason to have a notable presence in an episode. It's honestly reached a point where a lot of her more recent appearances have carried the feeling of "I'm still here, the writers haven't forgotten about me."
Of course it also comes with the feeling that the writers really don't have a clue what to do with her anymore either. Which is really disappointing because I've always felt she had the potential for a lot more depth than the average character.
All that said though, I'm really glad the fandom hasn't forgotten about her, and I've even seen appreciation for her starting to grow lately as well.
Here's hoping one of the rumored episodes for season 7 turns out to be the first of a number of much-needed focus episodes for her.

Absolute bupkiss for lines _and_ meaningful character roles.
God, I just wish the show would explore that unique dynamic between Celestia and Twilight more. It's so rich and plentiful for meaningful character development.
