Can't wait to see what happens next. If the statue is a person turned into gold it reminds me of a story a Greek mythology.

I-I-I-I-I was just kidding when I said king Midas used the golden castle as his summer house!
Is there someone with his powers lurking in this town?? I dun't wanna be a 24 Karat statue!!!!
P.S. Why is Amy asking about the 1940's, when this looks to be set in the Middle Ages? Is she worrying about Nazis!?

On second thought, it might be Sly himself... wanting to help his little girl and/or mentor her in some way.

Β Β Β Β Β Now that the Black Death has swept Europe in turmoil, a new leader has found his chance to strike down the king with a
cocktail of Christianity and what would be known as Communism.
Β Β Β Β Β "As followers of Jesus Christ, who among us has ever tried to save a non-believer? It has been nearly a century since
anyone brought His gospel back to the Holy Land, and people who lost their faith - and their sense of purpose - now ask why
God has given up on them. He never has, but God is punishing us because he thinks we gave up on Him. We used to bask in His
glory, but God realized that we have grown complacent in our duty to show others the path to salvation. Before the love Jesus
bestowed on to us can spread once more, we must make ourselves better Christians at home.
Β Β Β Β Β During these times, we have all toiled to earn our keep, but how often have we lent a helping hand to those less off than
ourselves? How often do we offer to help? Whose example do we even have to follow? Besides the King's, we have to go back to
Jesus himself, but His legacy only carries on through people still alive to do it. The legacy we see instead is that of Nero: a plutocrat
interested only in the accumulation of his wealth. Did you pay your tax to see him build a golden castle? Did you pay to have him
turn his back on those who need help the most? Did you pay him to jeopardize Christ's legacy? No, we seem to have paid him to
tell us that everything was fine, but now we know he hid the word of God until it came to our doorstep. The King has forsaken
his divine responsibility, so now we must take it upon ourselves to do God's work."
Β Β Β Β Β After violent demonstrations swept his dominion, the King was overthrown, only eluding capture for a few days. He was then
dragged back to his former home before the subjects of a new, vengeful ruler.
Β Β Β Β Β "The tale of Nero did not end with a valiant death in battle, as you may know. When you concluded that you lost your fight
for the throne, you dropped any pretense that you were a man and ran off with as much shame as you can carry, but - like Nero -
not enough to end your life. What is it about this pile of things that compelled you to turn your back on our Lord and Savior?
Was it not enough that you had our devotion to build something more important than your wealth? Do you not want our clothes Β
and food as well? Here, take our gold!"
Β Β Β Β Β Before the King could beg for his life, the people's Vesuvius made its verdict. Molten gold had enveloped his body before he
could react, killing him where he stood while holding the King in place. All that remained was the visage of a monarch whose pleas
for mercy fell on deaf ears. The new leader turned to his audience to pronounce:
Β Β Β Β Β "Here stood a king who was killed by his own greed. We must be cautious to resist the allure of material wealth or else, in
our own way, we'll end up just - like - him!"
Β Β Β Β Β Officially, the new leader elected to live in his old home among the villagers, putting the statue and vacant castle on display
as symbols of the previous regime's perverse decadence. Secretly, he sold off the castle piece-by-piece to build an army with which
to take command of the Christian World. With his new found reputation, the new leader wanted to trade in his title as King for a
chance to become Emperor.
Summary: I think molten gold was rapidly poured on this guy as an execution and now his body's in the statue.

It's also profoundly evil.
So much so that in the middle of writing this, I had stop and think to myself "Wow, this is evil."
The 'leader' in this passage was twisting people's religious beliefs for his political gain after all.
On a lighter note: I wonder how much practice it took Amy Cooper to be so nonchalant on the tightrope.

A king who wished for the ability to turn anything into gold with a touch. So, everything he touches turns into solid gold. Eventually, as must happen, he touched himself. It was a poorly conceived wish.
