(August 2010) Commission for ~Davidtres28 . This is Amalin, a Paladin and veteran warrior. Quite a bit of artistic license with this one. The only requirements was that she had elf ears, and an air of discipline (sexy discipline).Process animation: [link]

Just kidding. I really love the style. Yours is unique. She has got so much attitude and I love her pose and the way you paint hair. I've been looking up to you for so long.
I read that you were studying something else that you didn't really like first. I'm sorta in the same situation. I love nothing more than art but I don't really dare to go for it. I feel I have to study something utterly "intellectual" to become smart and intelligent and that art is just for enjoyment (and nothing special to your intellect) - at least that's what I seem to "learn" from society/my surroundings etc....
I wish I had the courage to go for art eventually...

I studied Law for my parents, and now that I've graduated, I'm going to pursue Art/Design for myself. Please don't pigeonhole yourself just because of pressure from society. You will become a victim of your own insecurities. If you let yourself think of art as nothing more than a mere hobby, then you are bowing to society's demands. Why would studying something "intellectual" make you intelligent? If you are not already an intelligent person, why do academic choices transform you into one? Intelligence can be inherent, it can be developed over time, and there are many facets to intelligence. If you measure intelligence simply by what you study, then you will be trapped by your preconceived notions.
I believe intelligence encompasses a lot of things, one of them being the decisions you make in life. Informed, well-thought out decisions. If you love art, and it makes you happy, then do it. That, to me, sounds like an intelligent decision.

I know that it probably sounds really weird or sad or also a bit silly to think like I do.
I don't really know where it comes from (oddly I don't think it's my parents so I don't know who else put this pressure on me initially) but I have the idea in my head that if I study something challening (like, let's say philosophy, maths, psychology) it would sort of "train" me to think more logically, to be able to do very "high" and complex sequences of thinking and to gather knowledge (or wisdom?). Somehow I have the feeling that I need to be able to do very complex thinking, to know a lot and to be very smart to be someone valid at all or I feel like being a human that's one level beneath those who are really "intelligent". No idea who "told" or taught me this but it's sorta stuck in my head that I need to be utterly smart to understand the world and that I'm a lowlevel person on the other hand if I don't understand.
It's sorta twisted...
On the other hand I love art more than anything else but I feel like it won't really enable me to do those "intellectual" and difficult types of thinking so I'm afraid to go for it. I have somehow built my own cage and I guess I've thrown out the saw to cut the bars. : P

nice. Very cohesive. The positioning of the girl and sword are elegant and gives the piece a really solid unity. I like the feather in her hair as well- it adds the impression of the confident female Valkrie, as well as the positioning of the tails of her skirt/tunic suggest the heroic stance, even though her other leg is truly located behind in a more demure position. Genius.
