What's the difference between PMD models and PMX models?

I'm not really sure since I haven't used pmd for a while but here are some differences I know!
-pmd models have black edge lines while the lines' colors can be freely changed if it's a pmd model
-pmx models allow a higher amount of polygons
-a few old mmd versions cant load pmx but if you have the latest vet of mmd, it's all fine and dandy!
Those are the only differences I can list now,, but .pmx is more convenient for us editors! (Or at least me, an editor) pmd or pmx won't affect animators much so don't worry too much!

i found out why my pmx models won't load in the editor (because i was using pmd editor instead of pmx editor) so now i can load both pmd and pmx models, thank you very much~
