Description
Oil Paint on cardboard approximately 12'' long, 6'' at the widest point. If anyone knows how to crop images with multiple sides like this in photoshop elements, I would be delighted to know how. I couldn't figure out how to crop this properly.It was there amid the magical air around the floating islands of rock that the eagle was surrounded by the magic. The little blossoms of lavender flames began to change its shape, give it more limbs and transform it into something much more than an eagle...

My tag word was 'mysterious'.
I picked this piece because it has a really mystical, mysterious feeling to it. I love the look of the flames on the bird, and the point of view from which it was painted.
There are a couple of things I'm not sure about, though. The islands are one thing. They sort of look more like piles of fall leaves that are sitting in the middle of the water than actual islands; or rather, that's what I mistook them for before realizing the blue area was water. This is mostly due to the highlights, which for some reason make them look like leaves. Even with this, I love the water. I love the different shades of blue and the ripply reflections of the islands in the water.
The second thing that I think could be improved are the flames on the bird. While I'm not a hundred percent sure on why I feel like they could be improved, it could have to do with the fact that they are completely conformed to the form of the bird. Real flames would be leaping about it a bit. Even so, I love the smoke effect; that really adds to the piece!
