Description
Mistreated by their former owners, caught in the streets by animal catchers - unwanted, unloved, unhappy... locked up and awaiting death if nobody takes them in... That's the fate of many animals in this world, and it also would have been the fate of this doggie here. But it was lucky as it crossed paths with members of a German animal protection association. Together with about 20 others it was brought here from a country on the Balkan peninsula, to finally find a home and the love it deserves...

Last weekend I had the honour to take photos of all those dogs, as I'm working on a calendar for our local animal shelter at the moment. It is incredible how very nice and friendly they all are considering what they have been through already. The signs of their former lives are still clearly visible though, a few probably forever - some dogs are very thin, others get scared by the slightest movement or sound, and some have obvious marks of mistreatment - , but hopefully they can at least forget the hardship some day and from now on enjoy their lives in peace and happiness ...

So when you're walking about in this world, don't simply close your eyes, but try to listen with your heart, and you'll hear them call "Save Our Souls"...
