This YCH has a story behind it which is kinda mysterious and it actually makes it quite special for me. This background was painted almost two years ago, at that exact time when backgrounds meant everything for me and I had a small dream to become something similar to concept artist, mostly focusing on fantasy environment and making it as detailed as I could. I had been painting this scene for two nights straight, from evening ’til morning. I remember that it took me more than 3 hours of work just to figure out how to draw the transmission tower, and actually, well, draw it (it is harder than it looks). The rest 10 hours were spent to draw everything else plus color correction. I really wanted to find my artistic signature in painting regular scenes with some echoes of sci-fi. So. Where’s all that mystery you would ask? Well, it all started at the point of adding a character. My idea was to draw a winged canine which is taking off the tower and accidentally touches the wires with its hind paw. And the wires instantly turn it into KFC. That’s why the original title was supposed to be Zap. But all that looked cool only in my head; «on paper» the character looked very small and I could never get the anatomy correct. After several attempts I decided to release this as another collab with Nemera, who was better at anatomy that time. But to my surprise she also couldn’t come up with something great. Some time later we came to the point that the idea was not so good and also a bit sensitive.

We both tried to come up with different poses and ideas later, but nothing seemed to work and make the artwork look the way I wanted it to look. At some point I even wanted to post it as a free wallpaper and stop doing pointless attempts to fit the character in. It all makes this YCH bewitched or something. Now you know its story. Only now I managed to finish it, and this is also funny because this fullbody was supposed to be one of the future adoptables, but it accidentally made the YCH look so complete. Fit like a glove if you wish Lol

The whole story made me understand something, and here is my small wisdom: sometimes you’re struggling not with poses or perspective or etc, you’re struggling with putting something inside of the picture which already looks complete. Maybe it’ll help you out one day as an artist, maybe not. You never know what art experience brings you the next day, right? And this makes it so interesting.
