The laser is a special secretion that can heat up to 100 degrees Celsius and above and has a toxic effect. This is a kind of protection mechanism, which is very effective. As extra protection, they have spikes on their exoskeleton. "Moving spikes" are actually limbs that can also be used to grab food. The mouth is a kind of needle.

Their life cycle is very interesting: at the beginning of their lives, they are not much different from ordinary zooplankton, which can be found in the seas and oceans. At the same time, at the beginning of their life paths, they are quite capable of reproducing without passing into a mature individual. They become sexually mature when they find shelter that allows them to avoid a collision with predators that could eat them, provided that there is enough food. As a result, after several years, they become guardians. In this state, they can be dangerous to many marine life. But even this is not the limit. Like many crustaceans, they grow throughout life, albeit very slowly. This means that there is a very small chance to meet the "ancient guard". It has a faded color and a much more impressive size: almost 5 times more than the usual mature guard. With such large sizes, they cannot be called dexterous and fast, but their “laser” is so powerful that it completely compensates for its shortcomings. And, as a rule, large schools of fry and adult guards can gather around the ancient guard, who use it as a defense.

The diet of adult guards and ancient guards remains a mystery. According to some versions, having accumulated enough chloroplasts, they already live off autotrophic nutrition. According to others, they begin to feed not through the mouth, but through the gills, filtering plankton.
