Origins had the chance to give him the exposure the character deserved, and blew it. Sigh... Why is it only Marvel makes their crime bosses powerful?

I never get a sense of danger from Marvel though.
When I watched Loki or Red Skull or whoever, I knew the hero would prevail and it would be mostly straightforward.
But heros like Black Mask, The Joker, Deathstroke? No. I feel a sense of danger from these guys. I feel as though anything can happen and the hero has a chance to die. I never feel that in Marvel.Β

But is it really done so well in DC if you know for a fact the A-List villain being used is going to be alive and well, less than a month later. Near as I can tell, Deathstroke has yet to be killed off, Joker's death in AC was so shocking because no one had ever done it before, and his whole face cutting off thing and being absent thereafter did last a year, which is a bit overdue in the characters screen time, and Black Mask was killed, but he is sadly considered a C-Lister (which I call bullshit) and his death was only a footnote, not even, his influence was swept aside in no time flat, and no one reflected on what he had accomplished (ruling all of Gothams Underworld), they all just reflected on when Jason Todd was killed, let's not reflect on Stephanie Brown's death.
In Marvel, no one is safe, hero or villain. Captain Amercia, Nightcrawler, Ultimate Spiderman, the Wasp, their deaths lasted long enough to be impactful, and some of them have yet to be resolved. (Not saying that's never happened in DC, just pointing out Marvels had their moments too)
And then there's the villains, who have caused enough deaths to be legally classified natural disasters. Carnage (torn in half), Bullseye (blind, mute, and completely paralyzed) Red Skull (snipped, and after years of having to share the body of an enemy, was finally blown up, seemingly for good) and Doctor Doom (trapped in hell). It's this brandishing of comeuppance (Marvel's Green Goblin was dying back when the Joker was still funny), and the reinventing of minor to B-Lister leaguers (like The Gauntlet on to the Ends of the Earth storyline portrayals of the Sinister Six) that keeps me in suspense a bit more, seeing as neither side posses the invincibility card, and that either side can suffer a sudden demise.Β
At least, that's how it feels to me, with the A-List hero's dying outweighing the villains substantially in DC, it kind of lessens the impact.

I bought the game for Black Mask, if they had said Joker was the main villain, would still have bought it, but not right away but at least knowing what to expect, not going in with false hopes so high they had an overhang to be dashed to pieces. The plot twist was like Bane from Dark Knight Rises being beaten twenty minutes in and the rest of the movie was about Catwoman. After seeing all the trailers you'd feel lied to.

Exactly! A bit disappointment. It was a good chance of exposing and exploring the character of a batman villain like Black Mask who is someone new for many (since he's not as popular as the joker, twoface, etc). Still a good game though.

Although I saw a bit here and there from the batman arkham set, I don't know much about this guy though..!
