I created a new AU, filled with angst and pain 8)
So, the basic idea with this is, that Papyrus became king, while most of the other monsters survived. Undyne became so wounded in her fight against the human that she was unable to take the throne when both the royals were killed, so in their stead Pap became king, and actually did such a good job at it to begin with, that people just went with it. In this AU the monsters were just as afraid of Frisk, as Frisk was of them, so it lead to some deaths and general misunderstanding, that led to them killing Asgore and freeing the Underground.
This is where the AU starts up, as Papyrus didn't take very kindly to the fact that a human, that had also hurt a lot of monsters in their fear, had killed their king. So, in anger he turned the Underground against the humans, and slowly but surely they gained ground in the war he started. With Undyne as a big supporter, and a new hatred started up towards humans, there weren't a lot the above could do against an angry army of magical monsters, and those few that understood that Frisk had acted out of fear, and didn't actually have murderous intentions, where quickly silenced in the roar of anger and hatred.
When the Underground established itself outside, they began to capture humans and use them as servants or slaves, quickly overpowering them and making them create the foundation for a New New Home.

Some monsters didn't like the way these things happened, and refused to threat anyone like something less than a dog. The leader of them turned out to be Sans, who tried to make Papyrus realize the error of his ways, and make him understand what he was doing. When all diplomacy turned sour, he left, and became the leader of a resistance fighting to free the humans and put an end Papyrus rule, though Sans insists on no one hurting his brother but himself.

Papyrus is now the bane of humans, and savior of the monsterkind
