Description
Comparison piece using vector traces of scenes from the first and second-to-last episodes. Done in Inkscape and GIMP for some colouring/texturing. Paper texture is my own.Related content

I've been trying to do some vector tracing in Inkscape, but haven't been able to get it to pick up big contiguous sections of color like that. Do you have any tips, or remember what settings you were using?

I actually only use Inkscape for the lines; for the flat colours, I opened up the transparent .pngs in GIMP and went from there. I wish I knew how to make flat vector fill areas of colour as specific as this, that would make using Inkscape a dream. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

How are you isolating the lines in Inkscape?
You can get colors by doing Trace Bitmap -] Mode -] Colors, and then set the Scans value equal to the number of colors in the image. It requires a very clean image though.

Oh, I'm tracing over them by hand using the paths tool. Scanning the image/tracing automatically is too unreliable. It's tedious but not difficult once you get the hang of it.

I really love the cut-out feel to this. I admire the message and the overall feel of this. I think the monochromatic color scheme is perfect and the composition fits well. I fell like the character on a hill is very fitting for the emotion and that it add a nice movement. I think you did great!

Okay, so this is awesome. The second scene was one that struck a chord with pretty much everyone (even those of us who only really saw this scene in a choppy, improperly voiced, Sailor-Moon-Sez section). This glimpse sums up your theme perfectly.
I only feel sorry for Luna who must feel terribly responsible, haha.

Kind of a 'Madoka' spin on the series Sailor moon.. But keep in mind, if Luna hadn't crossed their path and given Serena her powers, the enemies could have gotten her while she was vulnerable and kill the only heir to the moon kingdom..

I love the concept of this! It's so true when you apply it to this show. Had Luna not crossed Usagi's path things could have wound up very different indeed. Faved.
