Description
It was green. That he was certain of. Was it a paint spill? Some kind of algal growth? Hard to say.

As he drew closer his foot caught the edge of it. A thick green tendril shot out of the lurid mass, it's end spread across his face and stuck hard. He scratched at it, to no avail.
Abruptly it retracted, pulling him forward, his outstretched arms vanished into the green goo as he struggled to push himself up. The tendril still covered his face and despite his efforts it pulled his head deeper. All around his prone body the green ooze began to roil, he was sinking, his strong body helpless as the ooze drew him under.

Only minutes later there was nothing to be seen of him, only the occasional bubble gave a clue as to his ever having existed.
