In my dealings with who I am and who we all are, I have developed an outlook that sees the outside (skin, eyes, hair, etc.) as a costume, like for Halloween. It can enhance our inner selves, or disguise - the point here is that this piece smacked me upside the head as a great illustration of said views... and with this it almost seems like when some look inside, they still see emptiness, suggested above by the hollow inner eyes. Great piece!
