The Bridle: Very similar to the Portuguese bridle, minus the nose band. Each bridle must be custom made to the horses own fit, as a leather ring is placed around one horn to support an 'X' shape nose band. The bit has a thick, decorated shank, and despite its heavy appearance is very soft on the mouth.

The Saddle: A deep set, comfortable seat usually made from soft leather or suede type materials. Very padded to evenly distribute the rider's weight over the back. The pommel rolls into a horn, this should be well clear of the neck. The flap is short and square and intricately tooled. The stirrup leather is situated under the flap above the girth buckle guard. The saddle is padded by a thick skin, usually deer, elk or wolf pelt, the latter now rarely used due to protection of species. The pelt is lined with soft suede and fabric to cause least discomfort and maximum support for the saddle.
The saddle is secured by a breast collar which secures either side of the saddle, this is usually only for show and is often tooled, and the twin girths. The primary girth holds the saddle in place while the secondary girth is used to attach packs, sleep mats or saddle bags, or other accessories.

Protective Wear: Boots are made from thick leather and serve only for purpose. A full set of boots offers the best protection, however most commonly only a front set of work boots are used. These boots are cushioned with the same pelt as the saddle.
