Hmm I like the texture on the person's armour than that of the monster's. It stands out more I think, maybe because of the lighting.

I always wonder how people get their art to look so real. I usually reach a point where I just don't know what to paint

It gets like that sometimes where you just get a creative block. Try to sketch and paint real life studies, such as people, props, buiildings so you can understand the way light affects objects. It is a very valuable tool to progressing and it never stops.
This will help you in creating imaginary themes that doesn't exist in real life.
I still do it and trying to push myself to do it everyday on top of other client works.

thanks. I agree real life studys are really good to learn from. I try really hard to practice a lot, because I want to be a concept artist, buy wow that sounds hard client work with personal study.

it struck me odd that this piece is gritty. yet the monster is nt exactly scary but more suprsing. as in im more afriad of him hiting me or stepping on me then him. he seems like a big plant eaater that got startled. but i still like the pic.
