A bit different from the stuff I usually have~ Really enjoyed drawing this one! My favorite character from the movie is the robot, srsly. Illy don't you diss the awesome robot The other lovely members of the circle and I worked really hard to bring you this beautiful fanbook. As the book designer, I am very proud of the final result and hope you enjoy as well!

I don't know how you achieve this sort of harmony with colours so well. I've seen a lot of art where the entire picture has like one or two colour overtone that touches everything (which is really nice) but you somehow catch like.. all of the natural colours and make them slot beautiful together and it's not messy and it's just magical??

Ahh well, I did use several Ghibli screenshots as reference while I was drawing, so that helps! Also, I always put down base colors first, so that's usually when I decide when the main colors of the image will be and if anything clashes before I even get started C: I think, in general, natural colors are easier to fit together? (could just be me XD) The book has the full number of steps and screenshots, so... /shameless ad/

this is very beautiful!!! you calling it halcyon though intrigues me due to something personal regarding that name. can i ask why you chose to call it halcyon? and does that name have any signifigance or meaning? if so what is it?

Thank you! Yes, I've always loved the word - it's one of my favorites. Halcyon means peaceful and tranquil, and somewhat nostalgic, like "those halcyon years." Those were the feelings I wished to express through this image and after watching the end of the movie (which seemed rather bittersweet to me). Additionally, the name of our fanbook is titled that as well, because the beautiful animations and stories from Studio Ghibli have affected us in that manner, so I thought it was a good idea to link. C:
