This is probably a close up of The Encephalartos altnestenii which is currently the world's oldes indoor, container grown plant of any kind. It's a cycad [contemporary species of Dinosaurs]. Looks not unlike the side of your crock!

My task was to paint color map for Crocodile that has elements of bump and the illusion of skin relief. I did not have to much space for experimentation. Client looks satisfied after all 8)
