MAAT'S FEATHER
A portrait of the Egyptian Goddess Ma’at, depicted with her renowned feather, The Feather of Truth ‘Feather of Ma'at.’ The Feather of Ma'at was the most famous symbol of the goddess, representing truth, order and justice.
Ma’at played an important role within the Egyptian religion. The goddess would stand in assessment over the souls of the dead in the Judgment Hall of Osiris, where the hearts of deceased were weighed against the Feather of Ma'at. If the scale balanced, the deceased was allowed to go on to the afterlife. If not, they were given to Ammit to devour.
