Description The cost of war is not food or fuel,
Nor is it lost colonies and coal mines.

Those who vanished will never return,
And we, those outwitted by cries of glory,
Are deprived of their gentle youth.

It is too late for victory,
Too late for a trumpet-blowing peace.
Young courage has been lost
With no justification known.

Darkness covers our remembrances,
The reality of our fate receives no welcome.
The cost of war is life,
And so we've lost our own.

This reminds me a lot of an epitaph at a memorial in Burma.... I can't remember the first couple lines, but the last two are "for their tomorrow we gave our today"
