Previously : A Lesson In Repaying Ones Debts
Talli looked down at what was set before her; a bundle of food wrapped gently in a blue bundle. She glanced up at the other wyngling who was offering this to her, a wyngling by the name of Viktor, who she'd seen multiple times prior.
He and his runeboo lived on the streets much like her and Baugh. Talli always made sure to point out how pathetic he looked just sitting there, but every time she did, she found it harder to get the words to leave her mouth, often ending in hesitation as of recent. She tried to deny it, but the little begger always seemed better off than her and Baugh, which confused Talli to no end, he had another to take care of just as she did, but somehow he seemed like he was better at getting food?
She'd often try to shake these thoughts by telling herself that maybe, the triplets didn't mess with him as much.... but why wouldn't they? If he was really as pathetic as Talli always seemed to think, wouldn't they easily steal his stuff? These meetings always left Talli with so many thoughts that would sometimes even keep her up when she'd be trying to sleep. Why was he always better off? Why was he always so..... what was it, happy? Hopeful? Talli couldn't place her finger on it, but it made her feel like maybe she was the pathetic one, having her stuff stolen and having to scrape together what she could just so her and her brother could sustain themselves.
Now, before her stood this wyngling, offering her a bundle of food. Part of her wanted to turn him away, say she didn't want his pathetic chairity. However the other part of her, knew she and Baugh needed this extra bit of food.
Russell hadn't really been around so it seemed for a while, but suddenly he was back on her tail. Could have been because she was now taking more than an armful of fruit... But she needed those blankets- no, Baugh needed those blankets! She couldn't let him freeze! But now that Russell was back on her trail, it was getting harder and harder for her to get enough food, especially with the triplets running around like they were.
Why did he of all wyngrew have to try and give her something. He was a weird enough situation to Talli on his own, but now he was offering her something she knew she needed to take if she wanted to keep her and Baugh alive. The whole situation was so tense and awkward to her, it made her feel... uncomfortable, maybe even a little sick... though that could have just been the declining weather and the fact that she'd been eating less and less since it started getting colder; Skipping meals, giving Baugh the bigger if not only portion before leaving and telling her brother that she'd be getting herself something to eat when really she wasn't. She knew it was unhealthy, but she couldn't let Baugh starve.
After what felt like a lifetime of awkward, tense, silence, Talli stepped towards the parcel, said two words she hardly ever spoke, picked up the parcel, and ran off. Leaving Viktor with just those two words....
"...Thank you..."
