Description "The fight for change persists the same
I know I can live without it
But I’d rather die to fight it"

DA's auto-censor bot is dumb & has been needlessly censoring my SFW arts.

Happy Bloody New Year everybody.

I will reiterate. I am not anti-AI tech. Just the unethical way it misuses artists. If AI bros want to use it for their own creative pursuits, go ahead. I have alot of creative but non-artist friends who enjoy making their own OCs using picrews, meiker, rinmaru & other dollmakers. This is another avenue for non-artist folks to explore their creative side. I advise them, however, to always be transparent when using AI art & heavily discouraged them from claiming it as their own or profit off of them. Unfortunately, many AI artists are already using the technology for get quick rich schemes/scams.

If you want to use it to make your own customized fap material, go ahead. Look, many artists have specialized in making NSFW content. The worry of using AI art to make highly illegal NSFW content has already been addressed with current existing media, Photoshop & deepfakes. The only difference is how easily & fast it can be done now as compared to before. Now, the problem lies when AI datasets hold onto highly abusive imagery (ISIS Executions & Non-Consensual Porn are powering AI Art ) or use of private medical images which have been scraped without authorization (Private Medical Photos in AI Training Data Set ). LAION are unable to remove these sensitive images & washes their hands on all responsibility by pointing the blame on other parties. Kickstarter has suspended funding for Unstable Diffusion which planned on scraping millions of pictures including those of underage cosplayers & literal children with users taking advantage of it to make their very own custom CP. Will AI tech behind it also be culpable for having obtained these images without prior consent & feeding it to their database?

In addition to the highly unethical & illegal data acquisition by AI corpos, AI art is being used maliciously by art thieves to plagiarize, commercialize, falsely copyright claim & harass artists.
List of artists (professionals & hobbyists) who were affected by art thieves.
ChihiroHowe's Wednesday Fanart , Fortune K.'s childhood drawing , exxiry's webtoon artGenshin Impact Art Thief,  Greg Rutkowski (Professional Concept Artist for Ubisoft, Disney, Blizzard, Dungeons&Dragons),  Logan Preshaw (Art Director who worked on Valorant & LoL) , RJ Palmer (Professional Concept Artist for Ubisoft, Detective Pikachu & who went viral with his hyperrealistic Pokemon Illustrations),  Steven-Wayne's Cheetara , Tikosewad's anime artたかなし #YaminoArt , The whole fiasco with Sam Does Art vs r/StableDiffusion.

This whole thing just made me realized how many people out there hate artists. Why? Is it envy of our talent & insecurity of their inability to pick up a pen & paper? Artists have given so much to the community but all they did was take & take & then mock us. How do you they manage into deluding themselves into the ones being the right here? Toxic Techbros & their deplorable community won't own up to the issues they are causing & just vehemently continue to spit their vitriol & double down on their abhorrent behavior. And yeah, some artists have become toxic due to the situation but this is a defensive reflex. However, sending death threats to AI artists & other toxic behavior will only exemplify the problem & won't resolve the matter. Harassment on either side should not be condoned.

Let me address a few more things that AI artists constantly parrot in trying to defend their new toy that seeks to destroy the art community:
"Artists taking inspiration from other artist is not art theft. Therefore, AI art is not art theft. If artists can go to museums & look at artpieces to make art then so can we using AI."
Been answered already multiple times here already (see previous post ) but AI bros still keep insisting on saying it. Artists do photostudies & use references all the time. But photostudies (traced or not) often make it clear who are the sources of inspiration by giving attribution through credits. Artists who do not give credit to the original reference pieces they heavily based their original artwork on are often called out & shamed in the community. (see the previous controversy with RossDraws).
In addition, image generation by AI is less like when artist use reference but is more similar to photobashing. Photobashing, photomanipulation, collages & other such techniques are techniques that involve the use of several artworks to create a single artpiece. However, artists are discouraged from using copyrighted material. So why should AI be any different?

Can AI bros give credit to the multitude of artists whose artworks were scraped into datasets & used to generate their art? No.
Do AI bros get it through their heads that artists did not consent to having their works used & modified in such a way? No.
Do they even care about artistic integrity & copyright-infringing content? No.
This is why AI art technology's current model is unethical & why many artists consider it art theft.

And another thing, museum pieces are public domain images & are free for reproduction. Meanwhile, artworks scraped to train AI are copyright-protected & often no authorization was given for their art be used by a 3rd-party no matter how derivative the outcome of the generated image is. There wouldn't be this much outcry from artists if AI tech companies stucked to using public domain & copyright-free images in their datasets. When LAION trained their dataset on millions of copyrighted artworks & photos for "research purposes" then hands it over to their parent company, Stable Diffusion, who uses the collected dataset commercially; this is called Data Laundering.

"You don't even know how the tech works! AI doesn't store & copy the artworks. It just sees & learns how art is formed. Military-grade computers can't even store that amount of data dumb artist Luddites REEEEEEEEEEE"
Yeah yeah I've heard it explained plenty of times already that AI doesn't store the images but instead highly compressed it to allow the system to recreate its learning data yada yada yada. Yeah the AI may not copy+paste the artwork when they regurgitate the generated image but the ML, neural network, dataset, whatever uses the imprints of images to reconstruct the artworks & turn it into a derivative work.

Although the AI-generated Art does not result in an exact replication (Stable Diffussion models generate copies that show that it is highly likely that replication exists ), semantic duplicates may still fall under copyright law 'Substantially Similar Copyright Infringement'.  And you're still missing the point. It is not about how AI generates images, it's about us artists not wanting to be a part of it at all. Period. We did not consent to have our works be used in training AI & used to create amalgamations of other artists' hardwork which are nefariously being used against them. We want to be opted-OUT by default.

AI bros just love spouting their new favorite word not knowing of the Luddites' historical significance. Luddites were not anti-tech, they were pro-fair wages & pro-fair labor practices. (" They [Luddites] confined their attacks to manufacturers who used machines in what they called “a fraudulent and deceitful manner” to get around standard labor practices. " ) They were considered to be the first labor union & it is considered a of badge of honor to be called a Luddite because they rage against the machine even til they were put to death. It is just another example of corpos demonizing labor workers.

"If you post your work publicly, then it should be a free-for-all & you don't get to control how your artworks are used. Don't expect it to be left alone."
Y'all know this isn't our first rodeo right? You guys are making the same arguments as what art thieves have been saying for decades. Have some self-awareness.
If you guys want to call yourselves 'artists' so bad & join the art community then you need to respect our already established rules in art. If you don't like it, then leave us & our artworks alone & GTFO continue praying to your SKYNET daddy.

P.S.
I made a promise to donate a $1 for every insults & troll comments I get on my posts. I'm up to $20+ now. Keep em coming boys.

To my fellow artists & other talents who support the cause, please remember to donate to the CAA fundraiser or spread the word. We've already hit the $200k milestone. Keep it pushing & don't let the flame die out.
