Description
She walks on to the bus with a gentle step,Her elegant face framed in beautiful patterned silk,
She sits down in the back of the bus and people scurry away,
Men ignore her, as woman with unveiled heads mock her discreetly,
They think she's ignoring them so they speak louder and louder,
She remains steadfast and cheerful,
Her eyes always glistening with happiness few dream of,
Her smile still warm and peaceful,
Not a thought of ill will or intent,
Despite the fact that many suspect it,
Joy remains on her face, with a twinkling in her eyes,
The men who ignored her get off a their stop,
The women who mocked her get off at their stop,
And finally she get's off, unfazed and with a spring in her step.

Some years ago I made a delivery to a hospital in Philadelphia, and on my way back out I ended up sharing an elevator with a woman wearing a niqab (?) with only her eyes visible. I think we shared a brief friendly chatter before reaching the ground floor and going our separate ways. A thought I sometimes have is that women here (in the US) wear such or similarΒ coverings presumably because they choose to do so, but in some countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran since the fall of the Shah, and Afghanistan under the Taliban they are required to do so whether they like them or not, and sometimes are subject to severe penalties when they don't. We in the US are not flawless, but we don't see millions of people risking everything to get to places such as Afghanistan or North Korea!

Wow that was amazing, my friend is muslim and she is welcome in my school and every where she goes. Any one to make fun of people from other places should just shut up and move to another country to be mocked and see how they like it.

The hijab is beautiful, and women are beautiful! Wear what you like, any decent person will respect you any, anyone who hates or holds prejudice in their heart isn't worth bothering with - it's a crying shame the way in which western culture treats Muslim women who CHOOSE to wear the hijab! To them I say: show some bloody respect!

I am a Native American, I respect all countries, religions, cultures, etc. I have several friends that are Muslim, and in a year, I will meet my Muslim friend, Reemo, that lives in Cairo, Egypt.

Man you are lucky you have Muslims GIRLS in your school.
Not trying to be a perv or anything lol, but when I see a Muslim women practicing Hijab, it gives ME strength as a Muslim and increases my faith, that's why I wish there were legit Muslimas in my school, all we got are half naked girls walkin' in the hallways and guys swaggin' like there's no tomorrow.
